For birthday parties, anniversaries, christenings, or simply a get together with family and friends, sesame can provide the feast required. Whether your celebration is in a garden, a house, a hall or a forest, we can work with you to create a menu inspired by the season, the occasion, and your tastes. Our wedding and celebration menus are inspired by the seasons and by traditions from around the world, with the flexibility to suit your budget.
We offer a full event service at sesame. You can choose from either a seasonal buffet menu, or from a more formal hot food menu. In both cases the provision of all crockery, cutlery and glassware is included. Our staff will serve as required, charge your guests' glasses, and ensure that your event runs smoothly while you simply enjoy yourself.
We are able to organise a pay bar for your event, including local beers and organic spirits and wines. We can provide soft drinks, including refreshing homemade spritzers; and hot drinks, including fair trade teas, cafetiere coffees, and hot chocolate. For a strikingly original alternative to tea and coffee, we recommend and supply the beautiful jasmine flower teas, from China's Secret Teas. We are happy to provide additional sustenance for a longer celebration in the form of evening snacks or breakfast for the next morning.
If you would like us to provide a cake for your wedding or celebration, we are happy to prepare one to your exact requirements. Our range includes the traditional wedding (fruit) cake (see the picture above, right), chocolate cakes, dark chocolate tarts, lemon cakes, and victoria sponges. Vegan cakes are a speciality.
For vegetarian celebrations, we are pleased to offer the contemporary option of a layered 'cheesecake' (see the picture above, left). As an alternative to the traditional fruit cake, why not treat yourself and your guests to some wonderful cheeses like Hartington Blue, Wensleydale with cranberries, Somerset brie, and Mature cheddar. Each 'cheesecake' is decorated with seasonal fruit and flowers, and is served with oatcakes and a selection of chutneys from Polydora's Pickles (a small company based nearby in Thorpe Hesley).
We offer a comprehensive venue decoration service (see the picture above, center). The most basic service provides table decorations, candles, and name cards; this is priced from only two pounds per person. For a more comprehensive service, we can provide room decoration, floral displays, and memorable 'favours' for your friends and family (one recent example being an oak sapling for each guest). Our decorative schemes are governed by your personal requirements, though we hope that you are inspired by the following examples:
We are able to work closely with a range of trusted professionals to provide the complete celebratory package, should you require that. For musical entertainment, we recommend the Silverstrings string quartet, the Jellybean jazz band, and Mohamed Assani's sitar playing. For photography, we recommend Serendipity Photography. If you require advice concerning suitable locations for your wedding or celebration, do ask, as we have a useful range of contacts and have catered in some wonderful places!
